Gold Coast

Tempo Cafe

The one, the only, the infamous: Tempo Cafe. Located blocks away from all of the best clubs Chicago has to offer, and open 24 hours a day, Tempo Cafe is the perfect option for a late night snack.

If the low prices aren’t enough to draw you in, get this: all of their skillet dishes are served on top of AN ENTIRE skillet full of home fries. Try to tell me there is something better than a pan full of potatoes after a night out.

The prime location and the hours make it a great late night option, but unlike most late night food options, Tempo, as it’s lovingly referred to by locals, is still delicious in the light of day.

Friends Sushi

Within a four block radius within Gold Coast, you’ll find two Friend’s Sushis. Don’t let them fool you, they are the same restaurant with the same menu and cool ultra modern vibe within the restaurant. But don’t fool yourself the one on Rush Street is just a little bit cooler.

At both places you’ll be given to die for sushi at surprisingly reasonable prices for the area. The menu isn’t limited to sushi with many other Japanese and asian inspired dishes, but the sushi is undoubtedly the name on the restaurant for a reason.

The only thing better than the food are the ~vibes~ the ultra modern all white restaurant has under mount lighting on nearly every surface making you feel like you’re on some sort of cool spaceship or the hippest club you’ve ever seen.

Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap

I am a big believer that bar food is the sixth and most important food group and Jake’s is the place to get your fill.

Outside there is a light up sign proclaiming that they have the best wings in Chicago. As a self proclaimed wing expert I was very skeptical, but let me tell you they weren’t kidding. The wings are INCREDIBLE and to make it better the portions are HUGE.

If wings aren’t your thing the portions aren’t the only thing at Jake’s that are huge, the menu has pretty much anything you could ever dream of having at a sports bar, including flatscreen TV’s on every wall for those of you who go to sports bars to actually watch sports as opposed to people like me who are just there for the food.

NoMi Kitchen

Get ready to spend big if you’re headed for NoMi. This high class restaurant is located in the Hyatt building on Michigan Ave and if the food didn’t make the prices worth it the view of the Water Tower certainly would.

Upscale American cuisine makes up the menu at NoMi and everything is worthy of it’s upscale name. Tasty dishes for the refined palette are plentiful at this restaurant, and the drink list goes on for days!

If you’re looking for a spot to bring your family when they come into town, or want to take someone on a date night they will never forget make sure to head the NoMi.
