Wicker Park

Thai Lagoon

Wicker Park is such a cool neighborhood to walk around and explore, but Thai Lagoon is best for a night in. Though they don’t accept reservations, the restaurant, specializing in Thai dishes, is in the middle of a busy street, manages to stay nice and quiet inside. Clearly a restaurant favored for takeout or carryout meals, patrons were few and far between. As quiet as it was though, the decor and the food did not disappoint. The restaurant had a very hip feel with a gorgeous mural taking up one of the walls and all drinks being served in mason jars, but the food was very traditional, and very delicious. With over fifty options to choose from, no matter what you’re craving, you will find it at Thai Lagoon and no matter what you order, you should expect freshly made, positively drool worthy food with wonderful service. The option to BYOB makes this quiet gem all that much more exciting. So if you’re in the mood to feel like a celebrity that has rented out an entire restaurant for yourself, make your way into Thai Lagoon, or if you’re just looking for some incredible Thai food you can call them directly or order through GrubHub, Foodler, and Adipex.

Devil Dawgs

This classic, American-style diner is located on Milwaukee Ave, a short distance from several CTA stops, and is surrounded by several other interesting shops. The restaurant itself boasts a bright, neon, colorful palette with the menu to match. Selling various styles of burgers, sandwiches, and, of course, hot dogs, Devil Dawgs isn’t afraid to get creative with some of it’s menu choices. The service is relatively quick, and you’re given the option of sit down or carry out, for your convenience. A meal here will cost you anywhere from $10-18, depending on whether or not you go all out and get a milkshake, which are good, but a tad overpriced. Oh, and there’s a couple TV’s put up around the place in case you want to sit down and watch a Cubs game.

Antique Taco

From art shops to restaurants, Wicker Park has it all. Last week all of our group members picked the type of cuisine we would be indulging in and Samira and I received Mexican. Yum! As we ventured to Wicker Park, we decided on a local taco joint called Antique Taco. Located at 360 N Milwaulkee Ave, it is right near some of the best shops in the area which is perfect for after a quick taco snack! Upon walking in, you cannot help but notice the rustic and vintage look the restaurant emanates. It is “antique” but also extremely modern which I loved. We are greeted by our server warmly and pick out what we want to order. Samira decides on Empanadas and I stick to my usual, Sweet and Spicy Pollo. We each order one of their speciality drinks and wait for our food to come out. As soon as our food comes out, my mouth immediately begins to water. It looked soooo good and trust me, it tasted even better. If you’re on the hunt for a delicious Mexican treat that won’t break the bank, Antique Taco is the place for you. Their menu has a wide range of options for all types of eaters and the prices are extremely reasonable which we loved! Next time you and your friends are seeking an adventure, head out to wicker park and try out Antique Taco; you won’t regret it!!
